  Mawiza is a relatively fresh Chilean formation whose debut album was released on July 18 via Season of Mist. The record is performed entirely in the Mapudungun language. The word Ül means “Song” in this language. Originally, the band was formed under the name Nunca Seremos Dichosos , and only about five years ago did they change their name to Mawiza. The members do not use the Mapudungun language to make the vocals sound more exotic or unusual, but because they themselves have Mapuche roots. The Mapuche are one of the most significant Indigenous peoples of South America. The word Mapuche means “people of the land,” while Mapudungun means “the language of the land.” Their musical culture is rich and distinctive, filled with unique folk traditions, and this is a deep source of inspiration for Mawiza as well.   The Polish extreme/black metal band has released their 13th studio album,  The Shit Ov God , which came out on May 9, 2025, via Nuclear Blast.   On January 3, Patriarkh released their latest—and at the same time first—album, Prorok Ilja . This day was not only predestined for an album release, but also for the band’s very first concert: Symphonia Orthodoxia , which took place in Łódź, Poland. This is how an album should be presented—with a full orchestra and a conductor. It was the concert of my life, and even a year later I still maintain that it was the best concert I have ever seen.
